Acrylic manicures have been around for years now, and they haven’t become any less popular. This method of finishing nails is one that people have loved and stuck with even when new methods have made their way out of the woodworks. The tough and gorgeous exterior of the nail is made to last long and look beautiful, but how do you ensure that you’re getting the most out of your manicure?

As with anything, in order for your manicure to look beautiful for as long as possible, it needs to be cared for. Very few people realize that caring for acrylic nails can actually keep them from breaking or losing their look. Check out today’s blog post for a few of the things that you should be doing to ensure your manicure looks beautiful for as long as possible.

Keep Your Nails as Dry as Possible

The solution that’s used to create the acrylic overlay is one that can be affected when there is too much moisture. Now, by no means are we saying to stay away from washing your hands — that’s a crucial part of your day to day life. However, you should make sure that any of the times that you wash your hands, go swimming, or take a shower, you dry your hands off entirely.

When it comes to tasks that require your hands to be soaked in water for extended periods, like washing dishes, use rubber or latex gloves to protect your manicure.

Use Antibacterial Soap

Manicures are intended to make your hands look beautiful, but hands are also exposed to countless germs, forms of bacteria and grime, and when you have a solution on top of your nail you do risk the chance of it getting in between the acrylic solution and the nail. In order to avoid this from happening, we suggest switching to an antibacterial soap that will help remove any bacterias. This greatly reduces the chances of any infection forming with your acrylic nails.

Make Fixes Sooner Than Later

Nails are nails, and while acrylic nails are intended to be tough — they still get damaged. Whether it’s a chip, a scratch, or there’s a part of the acrylic solution that’s not working well it’s best if you get it fixed sooner than later. These types of nails are tough, but when they have even the slightest chip or crack, it can lead to a very painful removal process.

If you do notice that there’s some imperfection with your nail that needs to be fixed, visit a beautician in a nail salon as soon as you get a chance. If you leave our salon and any of your nails chip or crack after one of our manicures, we’ll always do our best to make it right — starting with fixing the nail.

Non-Acetone Remover is a Must

Many opt for a nice french manicure when getting acrylics, but if you’re someone that likes the durability of acrylic nails, then you may choose to have your nail salon beautician paint them a color of your choice. If you do decide to go for a color on top of your acrylic nails, then you’re going to want to invest in a non-acetone remover.

Acetone is great for getting all of the color off of your nails, but it’s also known for being really tough on the acrylic paint. If you were to use an acetone-based solution to remove your nail polish, then you would notice that the acrylic coating would also deteriorate in the process.

To avoid that from happening and ensure that your acrylic manicure continues to look great, try a non-acetone remover that not only removes the nail polish but also conditions your nails and cuticles so that your hands look incredible.
